PHOENIX (AP) -
Phoenix police say a man and woman are in custody after a long standoff with a police SWAT team.
Police spokesman officer James Holmes says 41-year-old Allan Champagne fired at the SWAT team when they tried to enter the front door early Saturday and an officer returned fire.
A second team went in the back door of the house and arrested Champagne and the woman.
Holmes says the standoff in a home near 16th Street and Indian School Road started Friday evening when fugitive detectives tracked Champagne and 21-year-old Elise Garcia to the home.
They were wanted on felony aggravated assault warrants.
Holmes says in a statement that Champagne refused to come out and said there were two women and a child inside. He eventually released his 5-year-old son.
