PHOENIX (AP) -
Gov. Jan Brewer is suspending budget talks between her staff and aides to Republican legislative leaders.
A source reports that the halt comes in the wake of a legislative budget proposal that omits or dramatically reduces many of Brewer's spending priorities in her own budget plan.
Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson says there's no point in resuming the talks until the legislative budget plan is changed to address some of Brewer's key concerns.
House Speaker Andy Tobin is declining to comment on the governor's move, saying he won't negotiate the budget in the press.
Benson says Brewer herself met with top legislative leaders on Tuesday. But she's traveling to Washington on Thursday for a governors conference, so more face-to-face meetings between her and the legislative leaders will have to wait until next week.
