PHOENIX (CBS5) -

According to Lydia Guzman of Respect-Respecto, a patient in a coma will be sent to Mexico on Thursday to continue his care.

Guzman says the family of 26-year-old Victorio Rivera Armento has been told by St. Joseph's Hospital that he will be moved because of his inability to pay his medical bills.

According to Guzman, Armento began breathing on his own after he was pulled off life support. Guzman says, "Victor is in no condition to be moved. In his delicate state he runs the risk of infection, heart failure or worse."

Guzman says Victorio's family is fighting the transfer.

Armento has been in a coma since he was injured in a car accident on Feb. 4.
