PHOENIX (AP) -

A 43-year-old hotel developer is filling the latest Arizona legislative vacancy to result from fellow Peoria Republican Scott Bundgaard's resignation from the Legislature.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday appointed Phil Lovas (love-us) to fill a House vacancy created by the resignation of Judy Burges. He was sworn into office several hours later.

The House vacancy was created when Burges was appointed to fill the Senate seat that Bundgaard held until he resigned rather than face possible ethics sanctions for a 2011 domestic violence incident.

Lovas was among three people nominated by Republican Party officials for the House seat formerly held by Burges.
