Majority Republicans in the Legislature have released a budget plan that calls for slightly less spending next year by about $106 million.
The Arizona Republic reports the $8.66 billion budget is nearly $200 million lower than the one Gov. Jan Brewer proposed last month.
Some items Brewer asked for she didn't get, such as $50 million for reading remediation for school children, a 5 percent employee pay raise and money to buy back titles for state Capitol buildings.
The legislative budget cuts education funding and puts $200 million into debt reduction.
