A Phoenix lawmaker is challenging President Barack Obama's bill requiring health insurance providers to offer contraception coverage.
Rey Torres with the Arizona House of Representatives said Rep. Debbie Lesko, a Republican from District 9, introduced a bill that would allow Arizona employers and insurance companies to opt out of the mandate if they have a religious objection.
"Mandating employers and insurance companies to do something against their religious and moral beliefs violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and is un-American," said Lesko in a statement Friday.
