PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Agave Library will host the OverDrive Digital Bookmobile on Friday.
The free event enables readers of all to learn how to download eBooks, audiobooks, music and videos from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos.
A gadget gallery, featuring Kindle, iPod touch, Android tablet, NOOK, Sony Reader, BlackBerry and Windows Phone will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library's download service.
The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The 74-foot community outreach vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades.
The vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems and a variety of portable media players to help visitors explore the library's downloadable collection.
Interactive learning stations enable visitors to search the library's digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample digital materials. The library offers more than 61,000 titles in its digital media collection.
Customers can access the collection through the library's website round-the-clock with a valid library card, internet-accessible computer and free software for the computer and/or device being used.
Friday's event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 23550 N. 36th Ave.
