GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Additional details have been released in a Feb. 12 officer-involved shooting near 70th Avenue and Colter Street.

Jeffrey Lusk, 26, was struck by gunfire after reportedly approaching an officer in a threatening manner with a broken jagged edge glass.

Glendale police said a Phoenix arson investigator was looking for a man and didn't find him but later noticed the man he was looking for while sitting in traffic.

The two ended up in the backyard of a home in Glendale.

Glendale police said the arson investigator called for backup and notified Glendale police of the situation.

The suspect was seen in the yard in the rear of the house with a red gas can and another object, Glendale police said. Officers believed he was disposing of the gas can, police said.

"That adult male produced an object and came at an officer. Fearing for his life, the officer discharged his firearm striking the suspect," said Glendale police Sgt. Brent Coombs.

The officer was identified as Nickolas Gombar.
