MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

The Arizona Museum for Youth has a new exhibition for kids called "Wing It - Things that Fly."

The experience allows kids thru age 10 to learn our world through flight and will be open through May 6 in downtown Mesa.

Sunnee O'Rourke, the executive director for the Arizona Museum for Youth, says the exhibit took two years to complete.

"Our mission is to inspire children of all ages to experience their world differently through art and creativity," she said.

Artists nationwide, including some local artists, have contributed artwork ranging from a flight simulator to a fantasy dragon.

An atrium highlights the flight of hummingbirds using real flowers so kids can experience birds in their natural environment.

A glow-in-the-dark camp helps kids learn about nocturnal birds and the sounds that they make in the wild.

About 50 different works of art are featured in the exhibition, including 20 interactive pieces.

The full schedule of activities is posted on arizonamuseumforyouth.com.
