Americans come to the aid of “America’s Toughest Sheriff”

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

One of the nation's leading conservative grassroots action networks says they have 100,000 petitions of support for embattled Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that they are sending to the Department of Justice.

Self-proclaimed "America's Toughest Sheriff," Arpaio is currently the target of a DOJ investigation alleging his department has engaged in willful civil rights violations including racial profiling of Latinos and discriminatory policing and jail practices towards Latinos and illegal aliens.

Grassfire Nation founder Steve Elliot believes the investigation is politically motivated.
