TUCSON, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Federal agents working in the southwestern Arizona desert recovered $1.2 million worth of marijuana found stashed.

Ajo agents patrolling on all-terrain vehicles tracked footprints leading to concealed bundles of marijuana.

Border Patrol agents found 31 bundles northeast of Lukeville on Tuesday. Agents later located 18 bundles west of the Baboquivari Mountains, in the vicinity of New Field, AZ.

The 2,400 pounds of abandoned marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for disposal.

In a separate incident early Wednesday morning, Casa Grande agents arrested a 32-year-old Mexican man on suspicion of illegally entering the U.S. Agents submitted the individual's fingerprints through the national database and discovered an active felony warrant from Portland, OR, for manufacturing cocaine.

The man will be turned over to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for extradition.
