PAYSON, AZ (CBS5) -
A volunteer at Veterans Helping Veterans in Payson has disappeared after allegedly scamming the group, Payson police said.
The last known whereabouts of James Reardon, 41, was Florida, officers said.
Reardon is accused of taking the title of a recently donated vehicle, re-registering it in his name and selling the vehicle to a Payson-area car dealership for more than $14,000, Sgt. Les Barr of the Payson Police Department said.
Reardon then went back to Veterans Helping Veterans and took a second truck, Barr said. The man has neither been seen or heard from since.
The group is a non-profit shelter housing homeless and disabled veterans.
