PHOENIX (AP) -
Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne says 12 of 26 suspected members of a large-scale cocaine and marijuana trafficking organization have been arrested.
Authorities said Friday that more than 30,000 pounds of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine have been seized from the organization operating since January 2011 near Naco, Ariz.
They say the criminal enterprise has been active for more than 15 years smuggling large amounts of marijuana and cocaine into the U.S. through the Naco area.
They say the drugs were stored at various stash houses in the Naco, Bisbee and Tucson areas and the organization smuggled large amounts of U.S. currency back into Mexico.
Federal agencies were assisted in the arrests by police in Bisbee police and Sierra Vista and the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.
