CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

Police are looking for a man they believed tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his truck while she was walking home from school Friday night.

Chandler police said the girl was walking alone on Appleby Road just west of Arizona Avenue heading to Hamilton High School when the man pulled up next to her and asked her to get in the truck.

"The man driving rolls down his window and says to this little 12-year-old girl 'You want a ride? Come on get in the truck I have candy.' She says no and keeps walking and he says 'Come on I have candy I'll give you candy if you get into the truck.'," said Joe Favazzo, of the Chandler Police Department.

The girl kept walking and the man asked her again. That's when the girl ran toward the school and the man drove off toward Alma School Road, police said.

The man is described as Hispanic, about 30 to 40 years old with short black hair, a full beard and a mustache. The truck was described as a small white older model.
