PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Department of Public Safety officer was hit by a car on the 101 Friday afternoon, according to DPS.
DPS said the sergeant was northbound on the 101 frontage road in the left lane when a vehicle cut in front of him and struck his car. The police vehicle was pushed off a 25-foot drop and landed on its wheels.
The officer had minor injuries.
Tempe Police Department is investigating the crash.
The intersection of Southern Avenue and Price Road was closed in all four directions for several hours and reopened around 6 p.m. Friday.
