MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A 19-year-old man police said told his parents he was going to commit suicide died Thursday in a head-on collision in Mesa.
Mesa police said the man's Silver 2000 Toyota Corolla veered into the path of a commercial tow truck at 5000 E. McKellips Road and caught fire, trapping the driver inside. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police said the man's family called police just after the crash to report he had threatened suicide and had just left in the Toyota. The man had a history of drug use, his parents told police.
