PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

A man was killed after making a U-turn on U.S. 60 in the East Valley on Friday morning.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the man's car collided with a big rig and another car about 2 a.m. near Lindsay Road.

DPS said the man was eastbound on U.S. 60 when for some unknown reason he tried to make a U-turn.

A semi-truck following him clipped his vehicle. The man's car then collided head-on with another vehicle. The man who caused the crash was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The truck driver was not injured.

Traffic was closed in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 in until about 5:30 a.m.
