PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A mom in the United Kingdom is defending her decision to take her 2-year-old rock climbing.

Menna Pritchard posted a picture of her climbing 30 feet up the side of a cliff with her 2-year-old daughter, Ffion, strapped to her back.

The picture shown in the Daily Mail shows Pritchard wearing a helmet, but the child's head is unprotected.

When asked about it, Pritchard told the Daily Mail, "Life is about taking risks... Some people would say I'm taking more risks than are necessary, but I am very conscious of safety."

She also said that a helmet was not needed on the route and she wore hers only "out of habit," a decision she now "regretted" because of how it looks.
