PHOENIX (CBS5) -

How did you get to work? For some lucky students, they had to look to the sky for the answer.

An Arizona Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter landed at Parkway Childrens School in North Central Phoenix Friday and immediately became the star of their annual transportation day.

Nearly two dozen vehicles of all shapes and uses were on display for students to explore and learn their role in the transportation world.

First graders from St. Thomas the Apostle also joined in on the experience.

Featured vehicles included patrol and crime scene investigation units from the Phoenix Police and Maricopa County Sheriff's departments, a Phoenix Fire department truck and city bus.

Students enjoyed climbing into the second level of a double-decker bus from London, England and learned about electric vehicles from SRP's Chevy Volt display.

A military transport vehicle and motorcycle/sidecar provided a history lesson and CBS 5 News displayed the latest technology in remote broadcasting with a live truck.
