CASA GRANDE (CBS5/AP) -
U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande Station say they've seized nearly 1,900 pounds of marijuana from an abandoned vehicle in a desert wash.
They say the 100 bundles of marijuana weighed 1,878 pounds and have an estimated street value of nearly $939,000.
Casa Grande agents were alerted by detection technology to possible smuggling activity Thursday morning.
When agents responded, they discovered off-road tire tracks leading to a wash where they found the vehicle abandoned and covered with a camouflage tarp.
The vehicle and narcotics were seized.
The Border Patrol says it uses a mix of high-tech enforcement tools along with time-honored techniques, such as tracking, to effectively manage risks along the border.
