
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Command for Arizona seized more than 35,500 pounds of narcotics worth more than $18.8 million, and caught nearly 3,000 illegal immigrants at the Arizona border Jan. 16 to 22.
The agency reported that 142 of the illegal immigrants had been banned from entering the country.
A breakdown of the narcotics included 35,400 pounds of marijuana, 53 pounds of cocaine, 38 pounds of methamphetamine and 3 pounds of heroin.
The Border Patrol also intercepted $559,405 in outbound money, one weapon and 56 vehicles used in illegal activities.
The agency said 453 people were prosecuted on immigration charges, 13 for human smuggling and 35 on federal drug charges.
