A new study looks at the rate of blood clots after knee and hip replacements.
Researchers found one in every 100 patients having a knee replacement and one in every 200 patients having hip replacement will suffer a blood clot before leaving the hospital.
The findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association say patients and their doctors need to take clots into account when weighing the risks and benefits of these surgeries.
