SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
People in the East Valley woke up to find some controversial fliers in their front yard. Some are saying it's flat out hate speech.
These fliers have messages against Jewish people, interracial couples and illegal immigrants, and are distributed by the National Socialist Movement, a white supremacist group.
Harvey Gray was surprised to find a flier in the front yard of his San Tan Valley home last week. It says "Take America Back from the Jews." There are even a couple of Swastikas on it.
"I thought somebody's got to know about this, so I called the police," Gray said.
He said the street was lined with them.
"It made me very angry, that's why I got on the phone immediately," Gray said.
"Hate speech, free speech, it's the same thing to me," said Harry Hughes with the National Socialist Movement.
Pinal County Sheriff's Deputies were also called out to another San Tan Valley woman's house after she found a flier with a picture of a gun on it.
"We have a police officer who should be out doing their job instead of answering a call about someone exercising their rights," Hughes said.
"Let me ask you this, why is it free speech, you put it on my drive way, you put it on my door. That's not free speech," Gray said.
Hughes insists they follow the law and are not doing anything wrong. He said they're not trying to incite violence or create fear in the community.
Pinal County officials told us only a couple of people reported receiving these fliers. They're calling this an isolated incident, but the National Socialists Movement said they have hundreds of volunteers passing these fliers out all over the state and across the country.
