PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix Police announced Tuesday that arrests have been made in two cold-case homicides.
A man already in prison for a robbery has been charged in the 2003 shooting death of 19-year-old Tony Adams. Adams was shot during a robbery in a park at 11,000 block of N. 24th Street. The cold case team was able to put the case together and Carlos Valenzuela was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on Dec. 29, charged with the teen's murder.
The second case involved the shooting death of 18-year-old Jorge A. Reyes-Angulo on Dec. 26, 2005. The shooting occurred at about 2:17 a.m., following a fight in the Street at 3400 N. 89th Avenue.
Through forensic evidence obtained at the scene, the cold case team said it was able to identify Jose Mendoza and Emetrio Salas as suspects in the case. Both of them are currently in prison on unrelated charges.
Mendoza was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on Dec. 28, 2011 and Salas was booked into jail on Jan. 4 in connection with the man's death.
