GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Glendale police say they plan to start searching a landfill for the body of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley at the end of this month or early next month.
The 5-year-old was reported missing on Oct. 11.
Glendale police announced on Dec. 21 that they believe Shockley's body was placed in a trash receptacle in Tempe and dumped in a landfill prior to her being reported missing.
"Based on our current assessment, we are preparing for an extensive search operation which could exceed several weeks," Glendale police said in a statement Tuesday.
Investigators say the girl's mother, Jerice Hunter, is the focus of their investigation into her disappearance.
Glendale police tell CBS 5 they are working closely with the County Attorney's Office.
