SIERRA VISTA, AZ (AP) -
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office has been awarded two grants by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety for driving under the influence education, safety and enforcement.
The first grant in the amount of $10,000 is designated to help pay for overtime for law enforcement details and for educational presentations.
Sheriff's officials say special concentration of enforcement activities will be during holidays and events throughout the county where impaired driving is more prevalent.
The second grant in the amount of $5,000 will be used for selective enforcement throughout the county regarding traffic violations and education.
Other agencies within Cochise County also have been awarded these types of grants and the money will enable the Sheriff's Office to continue participation in the Southeastern Area DUI Task Force.
