The Better Business Bureau is warning Valley sports fans to watch out for counterfeit event tickets this week.
The Valley plays host to the Insight and Fiesta Bowls, as well as a number of concerts and New Years parties over the course of the next week. Meanwhile, a CBS 5 investigation exposed just how easy it is for conartists to get a hold of counterfeit tickets.
Dozens of websites allow users to fill out blank tickets and send the finished product to a color printer with realistic results.
The Better Business Bureau recommends the following tips, if you decide to purchase tickets from a secondary source, such as a ticket broker or scalper:
- Look for the BBB Trust Seal.
- Deal with brokers who are up front about fees and terms.
- Review the tickets before you make the purchase.
- Confirm the seating to ensure the seats actually exist at the venue.
- Pay with a credit card and use PayPal when possible. This will allow for an easier refund if the transaction ends up fraudulent.
