PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Police said a man was shot to death at a Phoenix strip club early Thursday morning.
Lt. Barbara Terry of the Phoenix Police Department said the man was shot around 2 a.m. outside Pantera strip club at 4139 W. Indian School.
She said the victim was being loaded into a friend's car and taken to a Maryvale hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police followed the car to the hospital.
Police said the altercation began between the victim and individuals inside the club before spilling into the parking lot, where one suspect retrieved a weapon and shot the victim.
Sgt. Steve Martos said the suspects are believed to have forced a female to drive them away from the area at gunpoint to the area of 47th Avenue and Camelback Road, where they fled on foot into the neighborhood.
Martos said a police stopped a vehicle trying to leave a perimeter around the area and two people from the vehicle have been detained and are being questioned.
Terry said police believe more than one shot was fired, but did not know how many times the victim was shot.
Police conducted an unsuccessful search in the area near the club for the male suspect.
Homicide detectives are taking over the investigation, she said.
