PHOENIX (CBS5) -
An ambulance responding to an accident on State Route 87 north of Payson was hit by another vehicle while working the wreck.
Department of Public Safety officials said there was a collision involving minor injuries in the southbound lanes of SR87 at mile post 286, about 3.5 miles south of Clints Well.
Officials say an ambulance responding to the first collision was struck while on scene.
The southbound lanes of State Route 87 were closed at mile post 286, about 3.5 miles south of Clints Well. There is no estimate for re-opening at this time.
DPS officials are on scene. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.
