Jhessye Shockley's cousin speaks out

Posted: Updated:
GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

We've heard a lot from one side of the family in the tragic disappearance of Jhessye Shockley, but another has kept quiet.

It's the side that pretty much raised Jhessye while Jerice Hunter, Jhessye's mom,  was behind bars. It's the side that called Child Protective Services on Hunter back in April.

There's a Facebook page called "Where is Jhessye Shockley?"

Plenty of people have been posting, including one of those cousins, Lisa Vance.

Vance wrote about Jhessye's childhood, saying she and other cousins watched Jhessye come into this world and started caring for her the moment she was born.

She wrote they watched her take her first steps and stayed up with her when she wasn't feeling good.

They gave Jhessye her first bath and helped with birthday parties and Christmas.

It's clear Vance doesn't feel the same connection with her other cousin, Hunter.

She wrote, "We all know that Jerice made up this sick a** story and tried to get away with it.  Not, I don't think so."
