PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
Authorities in Prescott Valley say a man whose body was found last fall in the Agua Fria wash died of natural causes.
The victim was 40-year-old Robert Mendoza Celaya of Dewey.
Celaya was found at about 2 a.m. Thursday near State Route 69 and State Route 169. A citizen located the body in a quarry area adjacent to a nearby river.
At the time, police say the death appeared to be suspicious.
It has been determined the disruption in earth around the body was likely caused when the victim's dog defended his deceased owner when another dog came near the body.
