PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A father whose daughter's kidnapping made national news shares his insight on the Jhessye Shockley case with CBS 5.

Twelve year old Polly Klaas was kidnapped from a slumber party at her northern California home in 1993.

A man with a knife tied up her friends and took Poll. Police and volunteers couldn't find her for two months. Then parolee Richard Allen David, spooked after an encounter with an officer when his car was stuck in the mud, is believed to have driven to an isolated area, strangled Polly and buried her in a shallow grave.

He's now on death row in San Quentin for her rape, murder and kidnapping.

Polly's father, Mark Klaas has dedicated his life to finding missing children and being an advocate for strong sentences for violent offenders.
