Man accidentally shoots himself while answering door

A Phoenix man accidentally shot himself after he thought he heard someone at his door Wednesday morning, according to police.

The man was in the home near 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road when he grabbed his gun before answering his door around 6:15 a.m., police said. The victim's gun then discharged, wounding him in the right wrist or forearm.

No other information was available.
