A woman is dead after an early-morning car crash in Phoenix.
Phoenix police identify the victim as 28-year-old Nicole Johnson.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said she was driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse at a high rate of speed about 1:40 a.m. Saturday in the area of 3400 East Ray Road when she drove into the center median and hit a palm tree.
Police said Johnson was taken to a Phoenix hospital where she died.
She was the only one in the car and police said it's not immediately known whether impairment was a factor in the fatal accident.
Johnson's hometown isn't immediately available.
