The Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona is warning consumers to be wary of a new scam involving identity theft.
According to the BBB, scammers are calling residents and posing as representatives of a law firm that is trying to recover money from an overdue payday loan. Victims claim the scammers even had their Social Security and driver's license numbers. They report that the callers are extremely aggressive, often refusing to hang up the phone.
The BBB advises victims to file a complaint with your local police department and the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC takes identity theft complaints through its web site.
