SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Scottsdale Healthcare announced Tuesday that all of its hospitals have earned Magnet recognition.
Magnet is the national Gold Standard of patient care, awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Nurses Association.
Only 21 other health systems in the U.S. have achieved this milestone.
Magnet is the nationally acknowledged gold standard for nursing care. The designation recognizes high quality patient care, innovation, technology and evidence-based practice.
"It's an accomplishment for the entire organization because while it's about nurses, it's really about everybody that supports nurses as well the transporters, the pharmacy, the respiratory therapists. Everybody participated in this process," said Chief Clinical officer Peggy Reiley.
In order to apply, there are rigorous site inspections and more than 5,000 pages of documentation required.
Scottsdale Healthcare is first and only provider in Arizona to earn Magnet for all of its hospitals.
