Kenneth Dickey
FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
Pinal County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter after a fight that killed his brother-in-law.
Deputies said Kenneth Dickey, 47, of Kearney, and Steve Hatfield, 35, also of Kearney, had been drinking around 7:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July when they got into an argument that escalated into a fight between the two that was broken up by their wives, deputies said.
Hatfield walked to his vehicle to leave when another argument broke out and the two got into a second fight, according to deputies.
Witnesses told deputies Dickey knocked Hatfield unconscious. Deputies said family members dragged Hatfield into the garage, where they tried to resuscitate him before calling an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy determined Hatfield died of "manual strangulation" and Dickey was arrested July 5 and booked on a charge of manslaughter, according to a sheriff's department spokesman.
