BOSTON (AP) - Jered Weaver is on the mound for the Angels tonight in the second game of their series against the Red Sox in Boston. He took the loss against the Sox on Aug. 8, giving up four runs in six innings. Allen Webster faces the Angels for the second time in three starts. He earned the win against Weaver recently, holding Los Angeles to two runs in 6 2/3 innings.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen says the team will decide by next week whether cornerback DJ Hayden is healthy enough to start the season on the active roster or if he will go on the physically unable to perform list. Hayden is recovering from surgery in June on a stress fracture in his right foot and has been unable to practice at all this summer.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - After 2 missed field goals, the 49ers' Phil Dawson says he's eager to get back to work at Levi's Stadium. Phil Dawson converted 49 of his 50 pregame kicks, but missed his only two chances during Sunday's 34-0 loss to Denver wide right - first from 55 yards then again from 44.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Free agent Doug Worthington is hoping to help Chargers' depleted defensive line. Worthington went through his second practice with the San Diego Chargers today, one day after signing as a free agent. Worthington was released by Washington after its first preseason game.
