Paul is the morning host for CBS 5 morning news. After 800 live shots in the Valley, Paul Horton is known as the "Concierge of the Valley!" If you have any questions on any event or place in the valley to visit, Paul has been there. "One of the great things about living here in Phoenix is we have some of the best events," Paul says. "And the BEST weather!"
Some his favorites include: Spring training, Nascar at PIR, concerts, Barrett Jackson, bowl games, just to name a few.Originally from the Northwest and after many family vacations, Paul dreamed of one day calling Phoenix home. He's a two-time Emmy award winner and moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio. He's been in the news business for 17 years. It is easy to see he loves his job. You can also catch him every Saturday night on CBS 5's Lone Butte Lucky Break and hear him on Sundays on 98.7 The Peak every afternoon.
Paul also covers weather for our number one noon newscast. He realized he had an interest in weather in 1989, when he and his father were huddled in the bathroom of their small St. Thomas home enduring the wrath of Hurricane Hugo.
After that experience he realized how important a meteorologist's job can be. He is a graduate of the communication/broadcasting program at George Fox University. Paul received his Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.Being involved in the community is very important to Horton. Paul's carwash is a huge CBS 5 "Pay it Forward" event every October. Last year alone we raised over $25,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Arizona. On the weekends you can find Paul hiking, at the pool, exploring the great state of Arizona with his wife, Jennifer.CBS 5 is very excited to have Paul Horton on the morning news team.
Be sure to join him weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. for a fun twist on what the Valley has to offer.
