LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz.At the Dreaming Summit neighborhood in the West Valley, brown grass is not tolerated.
Homeowners who suffer from brown lawns are being told to dye their lawn green. If they don't, they are in violation of the homeowners association's rules and restrictions, and there could be consequences.
Neighborhood resident Bev McLain said, "We were very surprised that we would have to do this. I've never heard of dying your lawn green. This is our second notice; with the third they threaten to take you to court."
Citing that their family is trying to conserve water, and the fact that spring is right around the corner, McLain thinks this is a bit petty. Throw in a bad economy, and she admits that spending money to dye the lawn green isn't a high priority. She adds that the association also wants the back yard green because people in surrounding two-story homes may be able to see their grass.
McLain and her neighbors said they would simply like an open line of communication and some understanding from the association.
