Tight security surrounding Judge John Roll's funeral

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Security was taken very seriously at Federal Judge John Roll's funeral service Friday.

Shannon Road was closed to the public from Hardy Road to Club Drive at 8:15 Friday morning.

Security checkpoints were in place at both locations and adults attending the funeral were asked to show their identification.

Anyone going inside St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where the service was held, had to pass through a metal detector.

Local law enforcement officials were monitoring the church since the early morning hours.

They said the FBI, US Marshals, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and several Tucson law enforcement agencies were all working jointly to keep the family and attendees safe inside and outside the church.

We're told many high-profile figures were attending Judge Roll's service, including former Vice President Dan Quail and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

The service and burial were closed to the media.
