To set television sets to receive Spanish Closed Captioning viewers should use the following instructions: All televisions manufactured for sale in the U.S. since July 1993 contain a built-in closed caption decoder. To see the Spanish closed captions viewers must activate it on each television set. Every television set is different. Viewers should look at their instruction manual and find the menu to turn closed captioning on. Some TVs also have a “CC” button on the remote. Once viewers find the CC menu, they will see Closed Captioning 1 (CC1), Closed Captioning 2 (CC2) and “None” or “Off”. CC1 is English Closed Captioning and CC2 is Spanish Closed Captioning. Viewers wanting Spanish Closed Captioning should select CC2. It is best to do this during a CBS 5 News broadcast. Viewers will be able to see the Spanish closed captioning right away. Viewers will need to go back to this menu to either switch to English closed captioning or to turn all closed captioning off.
