Closed Captioning

To set television sets to receive Closed Captioning, viewers should use the following instructions:

All televisions manufactured for sale in the U.S. since July 1993 contain a built-in closed caption decoder. Every television set is different. Viewers should look at their instruction manual and find the menu to turn on closed captioning. Some TVs also have a “CC” button on the remote. Once viewers find the CC menu, they will see Closed Captioning 1 (CC1), Closed Captioning 2 (CC2) and “None” or “Off”. CC1 is English Closed Captioning and CC2 is Spanish Closed Captioning. Viewers wanting English Closed Captioning should select CC1. Viewers will need to go back to this menu to either switch to Spanish closed captioning or to turn all closed captioning off.
