Fever Edge Dream For Record Eighth Straight Win

POSTED: 5:47 pm MST July 5, 2009

(Sports Network) - Tammy Sutton-Brown had a season-high 22 points and nine rebounds, as the Indiana Fever recorded their franchise-record eighth consecutive victory, a 78-74 win over Atlanta.

Tamika Catchings added 19 points, nine boards and six steals for Indiana, which dropped its first two games of the season, but hasn't lost since. Katie Douglas had 10 points in the victory.

Sancho Lyttle had 18 points to pace Atlanta, which has lost three of its last four. Erika DeSouza ended with 15 points and eight boards, while Angel McCoughtry added 15 points off the bench for the Dream.

It was a tight game throughout, as the Fever held a 20-18 edge after one quarter and a 39-38 advantage at halftime. The Dream went ahead 59-58 heading into the final stanza, but Indiana ran off eight consecutive points to begin the fourth to go back ahead.

Sutton-Brown had seven of the eight points, hitting a pair of free throws with under seven minutes left to put the Fever up 66-59.

The Dream stayed in the game, though, and got within 76-74 when McCoughtry sank a layup with 19.1 seconds to play. But Tully Bevilaqua and Catchings each made 1-of-2 free throws in the remaining time, and Indiana held on for the win.
