(Sports Network) - The Arizona State Sun Devils notched a school- record four defensive touchdowns, as they defeated the UCLA Bruins, 34-9, in a Pac-10 Conference bout in Tempe.

Travis Goethel, Troy Nolan and Mike Nixon each returned interceptions for scores, as the Sun Devils (5-6, 4-4 Pac-10) kept their bowl hopes alive. Rudy Carpenter threw for 101 yards and a pick for ASU, which won its third game in a row despite gaining only 121 yards of total offense.

Kevin Craft had a rough game under center for UCLA (4-7, 3-5), throwing for 207 yards, but with three interceptions. Marcus Everett was his primary target, pulling down eight balls for 75 yards.

The Bruins posted the only points of the first quarter on a Kai Forbath 53- yard field goal midway through the frame.

Early in the second quarter, ASU sacked Craft and Paul Unga returned the forced fumble 17 yards for a touchdown.

Just over six minutes later, Goethel picked off Craft and took it back 38 yards for a touchdown and a 14-3 Sun Devils lead.

Forbath nailed a last second 38-yard field goal and UCLA went to the break down just 14-6.

After the teams traded field goals in the third quarter, ASU went ahead 24-9 on a 100-yard interception return by Nolan early in the final quarter. Moments later, Nixon got involved with a 45-yard interception return for a score.

Weber nailed a late 38-yard field goal and ASU claimed the 34-9 victory.
