The condition affects 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million children and adults, worldwide.PKD varies greatly in its severity, and some complications are preventable. Regular checkups can lead to treatments to reduce damage to your kidneys from complications, such as high blood pressure.PKD Foundation scientific advisors have voted to fund approximately $4 million in PKD research, including a project in France studying a promising new drug, Roscovitine. This year, the PKD Foundation is funding projects in 17 states and 10 foreign countries. The support of friends and family is important in dealing with a chronic illness.
