Hausner Writes To CBS 5

The following is Dale Hausner's letter to 5i Team reporter Jon Baird. The letter has been reproduced in its entirety, including all spelling and punctuation.

Jon Baird,

You asked if Sam Dietman could have taken my car out at night w/o my knowledge. How would I know what he did while I slept? My parking spot is appr. 1/2 block from my apt. and my keys were on a key holder hanging by my front door. Easy access. He could have and might have. Assigned parking assured my car would be in the same spot I left it. If he put gas in it, the guage wouldn't signal to me he used it.

Reports said Sam and I were out driving together. Is that a crime? We would grocery shop at Frys, Bashas and Albertsons together. Or go to the Casino. Or out to eat. Or pick up my daughter or run errands. Sam was unemployed. He went w/ me a lot of places. Or just go for a drive at night when we weren't tired. If the Police thought we were going to murder an innocent person, they should have pulled us over right then. Did they want to catch us in the act? Were they going to let an innocent person get shot? Then apprehend us? Police should stop a crime before it happens, not try to deal with it after-the-fact. Did you ever think of that?

Mr. Baird, in America people are Innocent until proven guilty in A Court of LAW. The out-for-blood, out-of-control media forgets this. Remember the Buddhist Temple Shootings?

The police tried to coerce a confession out of me, which they never got. I am innocent. They withheld food from me for almost two days even though I told them I have a medical problem w/ low blood sugar. They didn't care. They also had me go 3 days w/ no toilet paper, even though I have IBS. One guard told me to wipe my as* with the same hand I used to shoot all those people. Charming, huh? INNOCENT until proven guilty huh?

I am a family man who worked 3 jobs to make ends meet. Held the same City of Phoenix job for almost 8 years. I love and miss my 31 month old daughter, who is the apple of my eye, very much. I am not a violent person. Nor do I like arson. Does it seem like I am getting a fair shake? Time will vindicate me. They will charge me w/ 2 murders at a time, ensuring I will be in jail for at least 10 yrs. That is w/o a guilty verdict. My life is forever ruined and I am not guilty of what I am being charged with.

Have you heard of Ruben 'Hurricane' Carter, former middleweight boxer? Or Roy Krohn? (sorry, may have misspelled the last name) Not everything is what it appears to be. Research for yourself. The Police and most media WANT me to be guilty. I am not.

Thank you for your letter,

Dale S. Hausner
