PHOENIX -- The Arizona Cardinals have rejected a bid for naming rights of their new stadium, saying the new name would be too offensive. The Morton family, owners of Morton's Steakhouse, the Hard Rock Café and the new-to-the-Valley Pink Taco restaurant, approached the Cardinals with an offer of $35 million to name their new home Pink Taco Stadium. In what they said was a gesture of good faith, the Mortons presented the Cardinals with a $5 million check at a meeting last week. The restaurateurs offered another $30 million over 10 years. The Mortons said they'd be open to the possibility of a Morton Stadium as long as there would be a heavy emphasis on Pink Taco marketing, merchandising and offerings throughout the stadium. The Cardinals said they wanted nothing to do with the Pink Taco brand, named after a slang term for the vagina. Cardinals officials said they took the Mortons' presentation as a joke and dismissed the offer as a publicity stunt.
