TEMPE, Ariz. -- A Valley police officer has resigned after admitting he had sex with women he met on duty.According to an internal investigation report, Officer Jared Blanchard admitted to his involvement in four romantic relationships with women he met while in a Tempe police uniform,"He was using his position as a police officer to meet women and get phone numbers," said Sgt. Steve Carbajal with the Tempe Police Dept. "That's just a terrible abuse of a police officer's authority and power to be used that way."The report states that on one occasion Blanchard "responded to a female's house because she needed help and he ended up having sex with her."On another occasion, Blanchard issued a citation to a woman "for an expired registration and no proof of insurance."He later obtained her phone number from the citation and "text messaged her, stating that she was the prettiest girl he had ever pulled over."Blanchard, 26, resigned in August. His neighbor, Aleah Montano, was stunned to hear Blanchard had left the department in disgrace. "That's very upsetting. You're supposed to trust those people, put your life in their hands," said Montano. "I guess there are just some people you can't trust."
