Apparently, a 23-year-old man who rented a room through the popular site Craigslist got a lot more than he bargained for Sunday, authorities said.

Four days after he moved in, the man, who has yet to be identified, was allegedly assaulted at gunpoint after he apparently witnessed several suspects removing large bundles of what appeared to be marijuana from the attic of the house, a statement released by the Phoenix Police Department said.

According to the statement, one of the suspects allegedly stated “you did not see anything” and told the victim to return to his room.

After the suspects left, the victim called for police assistance, the statement said.

Authorities said officers arrived at the home, located in the 5600 block of South 10th Drive, and arrested some of the suspects as they returned to the house.

Police arrested Clark Furlow, 33, Charlene Henry, 36, Shanara Lawrence, 26, and the 23-year-old homeowner, Jared Willers, who rented the room to the victim, authorities said.

Upon arrest, the suspects did not have the suspected drugs they had taken from the attic in their possession, police said.

However, officers soon discovered what appeared to be another 45 pounds of marijuana in the home, the statement said.

According to investigators, Furlow, Henry and Lawrence may have just arrived in Phoenix from out of state.

All four suspects were booked into jail for the possession of marijuana with the intent to sell/distribute, police said.
